Jesus, quite literally, shouts Lazarus out of the grave: “Lazarus, come out!” Jesus orders the witnesses of this raising to life: “Untie him and let him go!” In our own lives, when we find ourselves trapped in death, bound, perhaps, by unbelief or fear or worn-out ideas about others or about life itself, Jesus stands at the entrance to our tomb and calls us to come out.
Do we trust that God will bring us to new life? Are we open to the ways that God may surprise us, giving us new life and hope in unexpected ways? Are we open to the care of others as they become the hands of the resurrected Jesus untying us and setting us on our way?
